USB drives
have occupied an integral part of our lives. We now no more need to carry our important
documents and files in hard copy along with us instead that hassle is been
solved with the smart introduction of USB drives. But USB drives often have a problem
associated with them. They often break or lost and thus the whole data within
them is lost. But now technology has stepped one step further and now we can
much efficiently carry our data without any problems and difficulties. This is
made possible by Intellipaper. The major advantage of such a USB drive is that
you can throw it after its use.
Special reader required to read the USB
USB drive is made up of paper
Intellipaper
introduced a flash drive which is based on use and throw concept. The engineers
of the company have used an embedded silicon chip to convert a normal paper
into a USB storage device with much intelligence. Intellipaper was working on this
project since quite a long time and after a huge struggle and trials, finally a
design is now made out of it. Electronic engineers have developed a technique
which is now the patent of Intellipaper in which a whole structure of
electronic components shape so as to give the paper the shape of USB drive.
Will it work as normal USB?
This USB made
out of thick paper (as thick as card stock) will work like a normal USB. You
can use it till the paper and contacts within the drive are in working condition.
You can easily copy and move files from and onto the USB with the normal
procedure. The exact memory capacity of the USB is not yet revealed but it
would be somewhere in the range of 8 – 32 MB.
A special
type of software is needed to upload the data over USB. Also this software can delete the data as well. But, the data present in USB is not gone easily. Intellipaper will
provide the software for the easy usage of its USB. However, if you don’t wants
to destroy or limit its life by injecting and ejecting it in ports, it can
function within some prescribed range wireless too! Intellipaper further added
that the USB will be made available to its customers by mid 2013.
Multiple uses
Such a paper
USB based drive would have million uses in future. Since it is quite inexpensive
tourists may use it for sending photos. It could also be used by companies and
schools for exchanging documents.
Paper is now smarter too!
