NASA TO MAKE BALLOON LIKE ROOMS IN SPACE STATION

NASA entered into partnership with a commercial space company according to which ‘Metal Cans’ (place where astronauts used to live in space) will be replaced by well aired bounce house. According to the experts, such types of residents will be cheaper and safer.  Keeping this in mind, NASA has made up its mind to replace aluminium houses with balloon like homes.

Project costs 17.8 million dollar
A conference was conducted at Bigelow Aerospace centre of North Laos Vegas. It was announced that this 17.8 million dollar project would soon be send to international space station. This project consists of an air filled room which will be converted to 2.1 meter tube at the time of journey.

Project is given to Bigelow

According to Glenn E Miller, an engineer of NASA, if this module proves to be a durable one within next two years, this will open an entirely new scenario of housing at Mars and Moon. Lori Garver, Deputy Administrator of NASA informed that this project is given to Bigelow as this is the only company said to be working on inflatable technology.

To be installed in space by 2015
NASA believes that this technique is three times cheaper and better than today’s aluminum technology. In addition, it is more comfortable to make rooms with this technique.  Engineers are trying hard to install it in space by 2015.

Transportation is a big challenge
Undoubtedly, transportation of such modules is a big challenge in itself. Engineers will study the modules once they reach space in 2015.
