LG is all
set to accept the orders for its upcoming LG OLED TV in Korea. The company has
kept the price at around US$10,000. However, it is expected that company will
be delivering the sets in February 2013.
With this announcement,
LG is considering himself in strong position by beating Samsung in the race of
production and smashing its competitors Toshiba and Sony. The OLED TV is expected to have a 55 inches
screen and is modeled as 55EM9700. Talking about its thickness, TV is expected to
be 4mm thick and will weigh about 22 lbs. The OLED television will make use of
WRGB technology along with LG’s four color pixel system and color refiner
technology.
It is
prominent that Both Samsung and LG announced their OLED TVs last year but LG is
the one to succeed and make it available for the customers.
What’s new?
LG OLED TV |
It is expected
that LG is making use of AMOLED technology i.e. ‘active matrix organic light
emitting diode’ in its screens. This technology is used in digital cameras, mobile
phones and media players. This is because this new advancement is able to
refresh fast and also consumes less power.
What is meant by OLED?
OLED is
actually an abbreviated form of organic light emitting diode. It is also a type
of LED (light emitting diode) but OLED uses a layer of organic compound for the
purpose of emitting light when current is passed through it. This organic layer is settled between two electrodes.
OLEDs are also of two types. One makes use of polymers while other uses small
molecules.
What makes OLED above LCD?
- OLED does not involves the use of back light and thus is able to give deep black levels unlike LCD (liquid crystal display).
- Using OLED in televisions provide it a perfect viewing angle along with much refined colors. This is because OLED pixels directly emit light thus providing it a more artificial contrast ratio.
- It also provides the screen with a much wider angle ratio because the colors of pixel appear unshifted and accurate even if you change your viewing angle to normal i.e. 90 degrees.
- Motion is not blurred but extreme clear and absolute thus omitting the ghost effect.
- Other advantage of OLED adds the sleek design to the TV. This display makes it more slim and thin.
- OLEDs are also said to have faster response time as compared to its competitor displays.
